Psychotherapy for Individuals

Picture
I am honored to help individuals begin or continue their path of self-discovery. I take a non-pathological view of how people present themselves, trusting that what they bring to therapy has an organic origin and purpose.

I am dedicated to aligning with the parts of people that want to grow. To meet these ends, I bring kindness, curiosity and support to the aspects of each person that may be afraid or resistant to growth and change.

By engaging in the conversation between the fear of and the desire for growth, individual therapy becomes a place to establish self-respect, become truly aligned with one's natural pace, and discover the possibilities when all sides of the internal story are honored.

I work with individuals both weekly and bi-monthly, depending on the level of care you need and what you can afford. In addition to traditional talk therapy, sessions can include many other elements:

  • The Invitation to Become Mindful  often with eyes closed, focusing on the breath and scanning one's internal state for sensations, emotions, images and thoughts
  • Parts Work  brings about greater awareness of different aspects of your internal world, the relationships they have with one another, and the impact they have on your sense of self
  • Guided Imageryproviding suggestion and image to help you access inner knowledge, often creating lasting internal resources and new ways of relating to challenges
  • Somatic practices includes movement, exploration of postures, and the use of self-contact
  • Touch applied with awareness by me when appropriate

I am experienced in helping people with the following
:
  • Relationship issues – including romantic, at work, and with family members
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Food issues
  • Self-expression
  • Existential exploration
  • Resolving past trauma
  • Exploring the choice to either go on or off medication
I serve a diverse community of adults, inclusive of all races, sexual orientations and genders (including those in transition or considering transition). The average age of my clients is 38 years old, but I work with those in the range of about 25-65 years old. I strive to meet the financial needs of those I serve; see the Rates page under Office Information for more details.
